Clemens (2012), for violin, piano, and double bass

Program Notes:
Clemens was written for the University of Hartford's 2012 COMP DU JOUR concert, in which composers had 24 hours to write, rehearse, and premiere an entire recital of original music.

The title comes from Mark Twain (whose real name was Samuel Clemens). While not programmatic, it attempts to capture the rambunctious, boyish energy of his heroes Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.

Rebekah Butler, violin; Evan Runyon, bass; Douglas-Jayd Burn, piano
