Connecticut Counterpoint (2012), for 6 mandolins

Program Notes:
In the same vein as Mandolin Phase, Connecticut Counterpoint was written after the works of Steve Reich. Reich's Electric Counterpoint, Cello Counterpoint, Vermont Counterpoint, and New York Counterpoint are all written for an ensemble of similar instruments. In the same way, Connecticut Counterpoint is for an ensemble of mandolins. Further paralleling Reich's example, it may be played by 6 live mandolins, or by a single live mandolin with 5 pre-recorded mandolins.

I. Perpetual Motion is a cannon between all 6 mandolins; II. Starlight employs non-pulse-based counterpoint; and III. Hoedown mixes minimalism and bluegrass.
