Spring 2020 Ear Training Survey
I'm considering assigning all singing quizzes to every student digitally (as we did these last several weeks), instead of asking for volunteers and/or rolling dice to determine who sings which one in class. That will force every student to practice, and remove any in-class performance anxiety. Is this a good idea, or a not-so-good idea? Why?

There was some concern among all the ear training teachers that the unit 2 dictation exam was more of a “transcription” test than a true ear training test because there was nothing preventing students from cheating by using a piano to check their work. Be honest: Did you cheat? (Remember, these responses will not influence your own grades.) If yes, how so and to what extent? If not, why didn't you?

That concern was the impetus behind canceling the unit 3 dictation exam in favor of a more robust unit 3 hearing. That certainly made it easier (or at least less time-consuming) for both teacher and student, but do you think it was a better assessment of student capability and learning?

Anything else I should do for my future ear training classes?
