Last month's newsletter stated that I had "a grand total of zero speaking engagements" in April. But just a few weeks ago I noticed Louise Harrison (brother of George, author of "My Kid Brother's Band, The Beatles", and manager of the Beatles tribute band Liverpool Legends) canceled a speaking engagement in Richmond, IN promoting the Richmond Symphony's "Twist and Shout" Beatles-themed Gala on April 29. Since Richmond is only 90 minutes from my home in Carmel, I contacted the symphony proposing my presentation "The Beatles: Band of the Sixties" as a substitute. The program was booked for Monday, April 17:
Monday, 17 April 2017, 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Indiana University East: Whitewater Hall - Vivian Auditorium, 2325 Chester Blvd, Richmond, IN
The Beatles: Band of the Sixties
Explore the music of The Beatles in this 60-minute multimedia presentation (part history and part musical analysis) spanning the full 1960's: beginning with the band's seminal visits to Hamburg, continuing through Beatlemania, and concluding with Abbey Road. The program will be supplemented with audio clips of music and excerpts from interviews with the band members.
This blog is a workshop for developing my analyses of The Beatles' music.
