Up until this point, my Beatles blog has been reserved for analysis and research - what I often call my "Beatles Workshop", as it is where much of my presentation material is formed and developed. Today, however, and continuing for the next 28 days, the blog will be more of a diary, a catalog/journal/advertisment for my June 2014 lecture tour in which I will be delivering 20 programs on the Beatles, the History of Rock 'n' Roll, and the music of Star Wars in five states over the first 29 days of June. Today, then, is day 1. Each day I'll post a new blog with details about the previous day's program and advertising the next day's program.
At the moment I'm sitting in the Cudahy Family Library, about to set up for "The Beatles' Alter Ego, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". The program will address the landmark 1967 album track by track, citing musical precedents in an effort to help explain the development of the album and illustrate how the music evolved.
This blog is a workshop for developing my analyses of The Beatles' music.
