Yesterday I discussed the lydian plagal cadence, and how the lydian leanings of the II chord were sometimes thwarted by the plagal cadence that immediately followed it. It lead me to wonder what other ways The Beatles use the II chord. There are two aspects that must be considered when analyzing how the II functions in Beatles songs: first, how it's approached (in other words, what comes immediately before the II); second, how it progresses (what comes immediately after the II). 72 of The Beatles' 211 officially recorded and released tracks between 1963-70 employ at least one II chord.
